■About Global Craft & Hobby (GCH) Services
GCH provides a matching service to match up instructors (teaching handicrafts and hobbies by remote) with students.
■Members
‘Members’ is used as a generic term to refer to those people registered for the Service, either as an instructor or a student.
■About Member Registration
After submitting your email address, a URL will be sent to you for membership registration. Click on the URL, fill in the required information, and then submit, to complete your registration.
■GCH Usage Fees
Usage Fees refer to the total amount of lesson fees and matching service fees paid by the student for each lesson.
Lesson Fees refer to the amount of money paid by the student to the instructor through GCH (as compensation for a lesson). Matching Service Fees refer to the fee that GCH collects as compensation for matching a student with an instructor.

For the rate of the Lesson Fees and the Matching Service Fees, please refer to the rate on the Instructor Terms of Use.

GCH only accepts settlement in Japanese yen. The usage fees displayed on the website are both excluding consumption tax and including consumption tax in Japanese yen. Currencies other than Japanese yen displayed by the currency button are reference only and are prices excluding value-added tax. The value-added taxes will be applied additionally. Please refer to the tax list in Help for each country value-added tax rate.
Payment is made by credit card using a third-party "Stripe Japan". We are not holding any credit card information, and the information is under strict security control by “Stripe Japan”.
Accepted cards: VISA, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, DISCOVER
The exchange rate will vary depending on the credit card company. Taxes in each country may also apply.
■Materials and Tools
GCH encourages students to prepare their own materials and tools. However, for those instances where the instructor prepares the materials, tools, kits, etc. and sends them to the student, the materials, tools and shipping fees will be included in the lesson fee (which is part of the usage fee).
GCH prohibits the direct exchange of money between instructors and students, outside the GCH services. If you are requested by an instructor to send or receive any money, please reject such request, and immediately contact the GCH Management Office.
■Payment of Usage Fees
Usage fees will be settled once the lesson contract is concluded (when the instructor accepts the lesson application from the student). Payment is made in a lump sum, regardless of whether it is a one-time or a course lesson. Lesson fees covered under the usage fees will be paid to the instructor through GCH, who has been authorized by the instructor to receive the lesson fees on his/her behalf.
■Time, as stated in the Student Guidelines, and the Student Terms of Use
All references to "lesson start time" or "lesson end time" stated in the GCH website, the Student Guidelines, the Student Help, and the Student Terms of Use, refer to the time and date of the lesson as listed in the "Lesson Application Management" on My Page and in the “Select Schedule page”, etc. All times listed on this site are Japan time. However, once you log in, the time will be displayed in the time zone you selected when you registered as a member.
■Lesson Application Deadline
We recommend that you apply at least "48 hours prior to the lesson start time." Please note that the deadline for application is 2 hours before the lesson start time, at which time the lesson schedule will not be displayed. If the instructor has set the deadline himself/herself, please follow the instructions in the Precautions section of the lesson details page. In any cases, the deadline is “2 hours before the lesson start time”.
■Lesson Application Validity Period
The application for a lesson is valid for 96 hours from the time of the application. If the instructor does not respond during this time period, by either accepting or not accepting the application, the application will be automatically cancelled and the lesson contract will not be concluded.
However, there are no 96 hours from applied time to the lesson start time and the instructor does not respond by either accepting or not accepting one hour before the lesson start time, then the application will be automatically cancelled and the lesson contract will not be concluded.
■Conclusion or Non-Conclusion of Lesson Contracts
A lesson contract is concluded or not concluded when the student receives the notification for acceptance or non-acceptance for the application from the instructor. The student will be notified regarding the conclusion or non-conclusion of the lesson contract.
■Rescheduling
Prior to the lesson contract conclusion - Rescheduling at the timing of application:
Rescheduling due to student reason: Cancel the application and apply again for a new schedule. Since the lesson contract has not yet been concluded, no cancellation fee will be charged.
(If there is no available schedule, you can ask the instructor to register a new schedule using the message function on My Page.)

After the lesson contract conclusion - Rescheduling:
A. Rescheduling due to student reason: Rescheduling requests can be made "up to 48 hours before the lesson start time" by clicking the "Rescheduling Request" button.
The schedule can be changed with the instructor's acceptance.
(1) If the instructor does not accept the requested schedule, the student shall try to take the lesson following the original schedule. If the student is unable to take the lesson following the original schedule, the student will need to cancel the lesson contract.
(2) If the instructor does not respond by either accepting or not accepting the rescheduling request at least one hour before the lesson start time, the lesson contract will be cancelled. In this case, the lesson will be cancelled by the student who requested the change to the agreed upon original schedule and a cancellation fee will be charged to the student. Please refer to the "Cancellation " section for cancellation fees.
(The instructor will be notified when the student makes the rescheduling request on the Lesson Application Management page on My Page. If the instructor has accepted the request, the new schedule will be updated. If the instructor does not accept the new schedule, please use the message function to adjust the schedule, and if necessary, request the instructor to register a new schedule. Please note that the Rescheduling button will not be displayed “less than 48 hours before the lesson start time”.)

B. Rescheduling due to instructor reason: Rescheduling requests can be made up to 48 hours prior to the lesson start time by clicking the "Rescheduling Request" button.
The schedule can be changed with the acceptance of the student.
If the instructor requests the student to change the schedule, the student may accept or not accept the request.
If the student does not agree to change the schedule, even after making adjustments, the instructor shall try to fulfill the lesson according to the original schedule. If the instructor is unable to conduct the lesson on the original schedule, it will be treated as a cancellation by the instructor. In this case, the instructor will cancel the lesson and 100% of usage fees will be refunded to the student.
Note: If the instructor is unable to accept the rescheduling request, the lesson will be cancelled by the instructor and the student should not cancel the lesson. If the student cancels the lesson, no refund will be made.
If the student does not respond by either accepting or not accepting the rescheduling at least one hour before the lesson start time, the lesson will be cancelled. In this case, the cancellation will be due to the instructor who has made the change request to the agreed upon original schedule and 100% of the usage fee will be refunded to the student.
(You will receive a request from the instructor to change the schedule. Please click on the "Rescheduling Notice" button and be sure to click either the Acceptance or Non-Acceptance button. If the new schedule is not convenient for the student, please coordinate a new schedule with the instructor via the message function. The new schedule will be updated when the student presses the “Acceptance” button. Please note that Rescheduling button will not be displayed and therefore cannot be pressed “less than 48 hours before the lesson start time”.)
■Cancellation Policy
Prior to the lesson contract conclusion - Cancellation of application:
No cancellation fee will be charged if the lesson is cancelled before the lesson contract is concluded.
(By clicking the "Cancellation" button on the Lesson Application Management page on My Page, a cancellation notice will be sent to the instructor.)

After the lesson contract conclusion - Cancellation and refund:
A. Due to student reason, if the lesson is cancelled after the lesson contract has been concluded, the following cancellation fee will apply. When refund of the usage fee is made to the student, the following cancellation fee will be deducted from the amount of the refund.
(By clicking the "Cancellation" button on the Lesson Application Management page on My Page, the instructor will be notified of the cancellation and the necessary cancellation process will be made. Please note that the Cancellation button will not be displayed after the lesson start time, so if you wish to notify the instructor of a cancellation after the lesson start time, please use the message function.)
Cancellation “up to 48 hours before the lesson start time” (except for cancellation of lessons that include materials, tools and shipping fees) 10% of usage fee
Cancellation “less than 48 hours from the lesson start time,” “after the lesson start time,” and “lesson including materials, tools and shipping fees” 100% of usage fee
*Course cancellations follow the same guidelines of one time lesson cancellations. The cancellation timing of a course lesson will be counted from the start time of the first lesson.
*For the course lesson, even you cancelled a part of lesson, cancellation fee will be treated as one pack (full amount of usage fee on all lessons) and refund are calculated based on full amount of usage fee for all Lessons.
*For lessons that include materials, tools and shipping fees, the cancellation fee will be 100% of the usage fee, regardless of whether or not the materials and tools have been received. The instructor will make every effort to send materials and tools after a cancellation, but please understand that there is a possibility that materials and tools may not be sent.

B. If an instructor cancels the lesson due to unavoidable circumstances after the lesson contract has been concluded, the student will be refunded the full amount of the lesson fee. In the case, cancellation will be handled by the instructor and should not be done by the student.
Please note that if a student presses the "Cancellation" button, it will be regarded as a cancellation for the student reason and the above cancellation fee will be charged to the student.
■Completed, Non-conducted or interrupted of Lesson
After the lesson, please submit an Evaluation Report if the lesson was successfully completed, or submit a Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report if the lesson was not completed or was interrupted due to instructor reason. If you do not click the "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student" button within 48 hours of the lesson end time, the lesson is considered to have been successfully conducted and completed.
This button is for demanding a make-up lesson or a refund for non-conducted or interrupted lesson due to the instructor reason.
In case the lesson was non-conducted or interrupted due to the student reason, a make-up Lesson and a refund will not be made according to the Student Terms of Use.

A. Non-conducted or interrupted lesson due to Student Reason: If you are unable to participate in the lesson or are interrupted for more than 5 minutes after the lesson start time due to internet connection problems or other unavoidable reasons, please notify the instructor using the message function.
If you are still unable to participate in the lesson or are interrupted an additional 5 minutes, you may leave the lesson after sending a message to the instructor. In this case, the lesson will be cancelled due to student reason and the usage fee will not be refunded according to the Student Terms of Use.
If you were unable to send a message, at that time, due to internet connection problems, or other reasons, please send a message with the reason to the instructor as soon as the internet connection is available.
(You can consult with the instructor on an individual basis if you wish to take a make-up lesson, even if it is for a student's own reason. In that case, please use the message function but not Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report due to instructor reason. If you use this report button for a make-up lesson, it may be treated as the instructor reason and may be treated as a cancellation due to the instructor reason if contact is lost or if the make-up lesson is not conducted.
Moreover, if the instructor did not accept the Make-up lesson request, it will be a student reason cancellation and will be no refund according to the Student Terms of Use).

B. Non-conducted or interrupted lesson due to Instructor Reason: If the instructor does not show up for more than 5 minutes after the lesson start time, or if the lesson is interrupted due to an internet connection problem, etc., please use the message function to notify to the instructor that you are waiting for the lesson. Please be sure to send a message to the instructor that you are standing by, as this will serve as proof of your attendance.
If the instructor does not show up within an additional 5 minutes, or if the lesson is interrupted due to internet connection problems on the instructor side, you can click the button "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student” from Lesson Application Management on My Page.
This report has selection for "Make-up Lesson Request" or "Refund Request" to notify the instructor and leave the lesson.
If the instructor accepts, the student will receive a make-up lesson or a refund.
If the instructor does not accept the instructor’s reason, GCH may conduct an investigation. In such cases, the student shall cooperate with GCH's investigation and follow its decision in accordance with the Student Terms of Use.
Also, for cases where a lesson includes materials, tools and shipping fees, if the materials and tools do not arrive from the instructor by the lesson start time and the lesson could not be conducted, please click the “Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student" button.
The button for "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student" will appear on the Lesson Application Management page on My Page from10 minutes after the lesson start time to 48 hours after the lesson end time. Please note that you will not be able to receive a make-up lesson or a refund if you do not press this button.

If the lesson could not be conducted or was interrupted, regardless of the instructor's or student's reason, the instructor will send a Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report within 24 hours after the lesson end time. If you receive the report from the instructor that the lesson was not conducted or interrupted due to the student reason and do not accept the claim, please submit a "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report" from the Lesson Application Management page on My Page. The instructor will respond to the student's report. In the case of the instructor's reason, please submit the "Non-conducted or interrupted report from the student" as described in B above.
■Make-up Lesson
A make-up lesson is a lesson that is provided free of charge to a student in the event that a lesson has not been conducted or has been interrupted.
If a student submits a request to the instructor for a make-up lesson by clicking the "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student” button, the student may take a make-up lesson under the condition that the instructor acknowledges the report and agrees to providing a make-up lesson. (If the instructor acknowledges the report, but is unable to offer a make-up lesson, the instructor will notify the student so that a refund of the full amount of the usage fee will be made.)
■Refund Requests
If a student submits a refund request by clicking the "Non-conducted or interrupted lesson report from the student” button and the instructor acknowledges the report and agrees to the refund, a full refund of the amount of the usage fee will be made.
Although the student requests refund, the instructor may propose a make-up lesson. In addition to the above case and in case the student does not accept a make-up lesson, a refund will be made.
■In case that the instructor does not accept the student's claim that the lesson was not conducted or was interrupted due to the instructor reasons:
If the GCH Management Office determines that an investigation is necessary, an investigation will be conducted and a decision will be made. In such cases, both instructors and students shall cooperate with the GCH Management Office's investigation and follow its decision.
■In the case where the lesson cannot be completed due to the student nor the instructor reason:
If the GCH Management Office deems that a lesson could not be completed and it was unable to determine whether the reason was due to the student or the instructor, the student and the instructor shall arrange a new schedule for a make-up lesson.
■Contact with Instructors
To contact the instructor, please use the message function on My Page. Direct communication offsite is prohibited.
The language used in the message function is the one you registered in the "Language used on the GCH website” section when you registered as a member. If the instructor uses a different language from you, an automatic translation of the instructor’s language will be displayed on the instructor’s side. (Clicking on the "Display original text" button will display the original text input by the student.)
■Devices Used in Lessons
Students are responsible for preparing their own computers and software for use in the lessons at their own expense. In principle, lessons should be conducted on a computer. If you use a smartphone or tablet, the connection could possibly be unreliable, due to screen movements, etc. In addition, the video call may not work properly with smartphones.
■Language Used on the GCH Website
The languages used on the GCH website are Japanese and English. (Language used in the lesson will be more multiple language. Please check the language used in the lesson on the lesson details page.)

The Japanese version of this site shall be the official version, except for the language input by instructors and students, and the English version of the site is translated by GCH for the sake of convenience of instructors and students.
For languages input by instructors and students, the input language shall be the official version, and it will be translated by an automatic translation tool.

In principle, Japanese version of this site is displayed in Japan and English version is displayed outside of Japan. The language can be switched between Japanese and English by clicking the switch button at the top of this site.

The following information, which was input directly by instructors or students, may be displayed on this site either as the original input or as an automatic translation by an external service.
(For example, if an instructor inputs in English and a student views the lesson in Japanese, the automatic translation is displayed. If the instructor inputs in Japanese and the student views in Japanese, the original input is displayed.)
Lesson details page: "Lesson contents," "Materials and tools," etc., input by the instructor.
Message function page: "Message" input by the instructor and the student.
Student review page "Review" input by the student, etc.
Comment box: Comment box for rescheduling requests, cancellations, etc.

Disclaimer of Liability for Translation
Translation tools are being provisioned for by external companies and we do not accept responsibility for the correctness or any damages that may be caused by the accuracy of the translation.
■Languages Used in Lessons
At GCH, lessons are conducted using Video call with automatic translation. Translation tools are being provisioned for by external companies and we do not accept responsibility for the correctness or any damages that may be caused by the accuracy of the translation. It is also possible to take lessons in the language supported by the instructor without using the automatic translation function.
■Recording of Lessons
You may not record lessons without the prior consent of the instructor and all other participants taking the lesson. You are also prohibited from providing the recordings to any third party or uploading them on a website.
The GCH Management Office may record lessons without prior notice in order to verify lesson content, prevent or resolve problems, etc. However, as a principle, the recorded data will be handled only within the GCH Management Office.
■Posting Reviews
Reviews will be published on the site. Your nickname and profile image will be displayed with it. Your review will remain on the site even after you withdraw from the membership. The Company may delete any posting that it deems inappropriate, such as a defamatory comment.
■Withdrawal from Membership
Upon cancellation of the membership, all lessons that have been applied for or contracted for will be automatically cancelled.
Please refer to the relevant cancellation column for cancellation fees. Before canceling your membership, please check to see if there are any lessons that you have already applied for or contract concluded for.
